The Silver Comet Trail runs 62 miles, from Smyrna on the outskirts of Atlanta, to the Georgia/Alabama state line. There it connects to the Chief Ladiga Trail.

From the Georgia state line to Anniston, the Chief Ladiga Trail winds through 33 miles of scenic Alabama countryside. Together, the Chief Ladiga and Silver Comet add up to nearly 100 miles of blissful trail! Silver Comet Trail Conditions

Silver Comet Trail conditions from the PATH Foundation website:

Silver Comet Trail

Mile 16 of the Comet is now open with portions under a Speed Limit 10MPH rule. Orange fencing lines the trail to keep trail users away from the flood damaged shoulders. Be aware Paulding County officials are writing tickets to sppeding cyclists in this area.

The tunnel under Brushy Mountain (mile 30.8) has big water puddles in the tunnel. Caution is advised.

Watch for a rock slide in mile 46 near "trash mountain"

About 3 inches of water covers the trail for about 200 feet in mile 42 as a result of the ditch along the railroad being clogged. CSX has been notified of the problem.
