We are planning a spring ride on the Silver Comet/Chief Ladiga this spring and we are considering an overnight at the Best Western in Smyrna. It appears to be very close to the trailhead. My question; is it safe to travel by bike to the hotel from the Mavell Road?

Yes and No: Stay on trail up hill to Publix, cross South Cobb DR, continue to Atlanta Road, South on Atlanta Road on sidewalks (busy), to Pine St., cross Atlanta Rd., sidewalks south to Winchester.
Assume you are staying at the Winchester Best Western?

Next group of hotels is in Hiram, GA near MP# 15-18.
